Hepatic congestion (stasis acuta hepatis) 40x
The lobular structure of liver is not changed. Central veins and surrounding sinusoids are often dilated and plethoric. In corresponding areas the trabeculae are thin. In chronic stasis the hepatocellular degeneration occurs along with fat vacuolization in the surrounding cells. Sometimes it is difficult to separate acute and chronic stasis hepatis. Portal areas in this sample are normal. HE-staining, 40x magnification.
